While most people might take offense at being labeled as a loner, Aquarius don’t mind one bit. They prefer to be by themselves and their favorite moments of the day are the ones filled with silence. They are incredibly smart people and hard-working, so you will probably find that many Aquarius people are lawyers because they don’t mind working long hours and they also don’t mind making people mad. Even though they don’t like confrontation, they will go head-to-head with someone if it means that they’re sticking up for what they believe in. You will probably see this zodiac sign the least in social situations because an Aquarius would rather spend the night alone than go to a party where they have to make meaningless chit chat.…

Very rarely so we take stock in our own well-being in the workplace and even less time is spent on determining if our personalities fit within the expected model of behavior that is expected at the organization for which we are part of. Occasionally it is good to sit back and look at oneself and determine what your personality traits are and if they coincide with your goals. According to Wan Ismail and Awadh (2011), personality can be a determining factor in one’s job performance. Further research has shown that personality differentiates one person from another (Beer & Brooks, 2011) and that personality traits remain steady and stable through ones work life (Myers, 1998). Being able to understand your own personality traits is important to unlocking your own job satisfaction needs and leadership and management abilities.…

The terms "housewife" and "homemaker" are two words that are dying out. Many women in today's society have several roles: mother, wife, and employee. Women are acquiring high-level positions in corporate America; it's a journey that is long, and hard; especially for women of color because of a barrier, commonly referred to as the "glass ceiling." When women acknowledge this obstacle, it's that much easier to overcome it with motivation and persistence.…

In her op.ed “The Satisfactions of Housewifery and Motherhood” written in 1977, Terry Martin Hekker reveals the judgement housewives go through because society does not respect their non-paying job. Hekker opens up by sharing personal encounters involving the embarrassment of telling others her occupation as well as theoretically comparing herself to an endangered species. Hekker continues to elaborate on this metaphor by citing a statistic that states “fewer than 16 percent of American families have a full-time housewife-mother” and as this rate continues to decrease, eventually she will be the only housewife remaining (37). In a humorous manner, she also mentions the enormous fame and publicity she will receive in the future because her profession will be so rare. In a whimsical tone, she gives the example of charging expensive fees for interviews and autographs such as celebrities do. She moves forward by using sarcastic examples such as how it is considered “heroic” to take care of someone else’s children than your own to demonstrate how society views housewives as ignorant and unacceptable. In her finishing sentence, she relates herself back to being an endangered species to stress the ongoing struggle and judgement a housewife, such as herself, faces due to how poorly society views housewifery.…

It's time for our school to adopt this new attitude. We should offer home economics courses and encourage every student to enroll in them. The most important reason for expanding our curriculum in this area is that everyone, both male and female, is a potential homemaker. As Nick Rhoton, the 1993 president of the Future Homemakers of America, has said, "Home economics isn't just a class; it shows how to live in your society." Social and economic trends make it increasingly likely that both partners in a marriage will hold jobs and will participate in running the home.…

My mother did nothing except stay beautiful; at thirty she still acted like the sixteen-year-old girl my father had eloped with. She listened to the Victrola, visited her girlfriends and went to the city, to the fancy department stores, to try on clothes. So my grandmother got down on her arthritic knees and scrubbed the floors. She did laundry, she cooked. Naturally, I worked alongside her. I guess I figured housework was something that skipped a generation. But once I finished high school and went to business, I wasn’t much of a help. My grandmother was really the housewife in her son’s home – which I guess made my mother. (Susan Isaacs. Shining Through)…

It was quite clear that women and men experience and express the energetic qualities symbolized in their charts differently. Being a woman, I chose to delve into the gender-differences from a woman's point of view. That writing resulted in what you'll read in this report. I describe my lifestyle as a home-buddy person. I always stay in the house except on certain occasions where I have to travel for family gatherings or attend to unplanned errands. But whenever possible, I would prefer to stay home and watch my favorite TV shows or movies and be with my family. I also like to cook and barbeque for everyone in the house. And just like a typical Filipino family who prefer to live all together, my family is big. I’m glad my parents invested on a sizable house early on to be able to accommodate our growing family.…
