Research Paper About Population Explosion

I. Introduction What is population explosion? It is a rapid increase in size of the population caused by such factors as a sudden decline in infant mortality or an increase in life expectancy. One factor to consider is the death rate and birth rate is not in balance. This means that rapidly growth increase was mainly caused by decreased death rate and an increase in birth rate. To the extent the number of birth rate exceeds the number of deaths. Population explosion is one of the serious problems in our times now. Over the past years, our population is dramatically increasing. Our numbers are expected to rise again in the next years. Here in the Philippines, our population today had estimated to reach 103,775,002 according to the CIA World Factbook. We landed on the number twelve spot on having the largest population in the world. This problem caused bad effects to the lives of many Filipinos, financial crisis, economy and environment that lead to severe poverty, malnutrition, unemployment, violence and crime, other large population related problems. Due to population explosion the Philippine economy is getting smaller and smaller and a hindrance to improve the way of living. How come there are countries with higher population than the Philippines have still high economic rate and rich in resources? Do the government been effective in controlling population growth? The significance of this problem to our present times is that the overly increasing population hinders our aspirations to become a globally competitive country. Our government will surely have high hopes for our country only if the people and constituents behind are more cooperative. Sadly we all suffer from the worst effects of overpopulation. Here are some places that we can see how intensely crowded we are: hospitals, health clinics, public schools, buses, jeeps, trains, roads, slum and squatter areas. The rapid urbanization is also another factor contributing to this problem where they leave their place due to lack of job opportunities and low salary income. Families belong to a lower class most likely have more children and can’t afford them to go to school. Thousands mostly children died everyday because of starvation. It ceases their interaction in each member of the family and social relationships. Many children live on the crowded highways to beg for food or money. Lack of proper education, no family planning and never use of contraceptive pills and condoms is the result of having unplanned babies. Still, millions of Filipinos still believed that God will provide and go on and multiply. An irresponsible increasing family size who lives in poverty still see their offspring as their best hope in desperate times. Among both men and women, an early age at first marriage is more common among those with no education than among their educated peers and couples who attain higher level of education wants fewer children. It also increased illiteracy among men and women. People with less education have higher mental mortality, less knowledge of key health interventions, lower nutritional status, and most basically have lower self-esteem. Thus, the population explosion is far from over. Rapid population growth cannot be blamed for all or any of the country’s development problems but it is clearly a critical factor.
II. Literature Review The study’s findings give us more reasons to view population and family planning with an open mind and with more consideration to other people’s decision making. Contraception remains a deeply sensitive issue for much of the public. Religious groups and other political leaders blocked efforts in our country, for example, the use of modern techniques of family planning. Better public understanding of the benefits of intended childbearing is needed to counteract these obstacles and bring such a vision closer to reality. The purpose of reducing population is to minimize misery and suffering in the world to be able to cope up with struggles due to population explosion. In dealing with this problem, each and everyone should act responsibly in managing the family for the benefit of the whole society. Don’t put all the blame to our government, as a matter of fact, this is a burden to all of us.
