These are important because they represent the pigs power over the other working class animals and their ability to manipulate these animals. At the start of Animal Farm, the pigs work together in order to conduct a list of seven commandments that the animals were to live by, “Form an unalterable law by which the animals must live by forever.” As the story develops the pigs change these commandments to suit their liking, for example, they change no animal shall drink alcohol to no animal shall drink alcohol to excess. This proves that the pigs, in particular, Napoleon have a great ability to manipulate the other farm animals into doing what they want and the other animals don't question the pigs as they are more intelligent than them and napoleon uses this to affirm his superiority. This is mainly because it showed me how rotten some people are to each other by exploiting their disadvantages for the good of themselves. In this novel this person was Napoleon and he took advantage of the dumber, working class animals on the farm by instructing them to build the windmill whilst he did nothing, much like Joseph Stalin who also took advantage of the different classes. I also really admired the some of the characters such as Boxer who was all brawn and no brain. I took a liking to him because he did so much for his community, however, I also felt sorry for him because I knew the pigs were just using him for their dirty work, which eventually caused his death. These things made for a great book full of symbolism, conflict, lies, sadness and mistrust, which came together to create a powerful meaning that becomes an allegory for our human nature and our inability to be equal with everyone. This book was very good however it was a little bit boring during some parts but overall it was a great novel and I would definitely recommend it to
