Carpentry “I spend a lot of time doing carpentry. Sometimes there is nothing that gives me the contentment that sawing a piece of wood does” (Abbas Kiarostami Quotes). This quote was said by Abbas Kiarostami and what i believe he meant was that the job can be pleasing. A carpenter will construct, repair, and install a buildings framework and structure and it can be made of wood and/or other materials. A carpenter’s worksite can be inside or outside with many types of construction projects, from making kitchen cabinets to building highways and bridges (bureau of labor statistics). Carpentry is a great career choice for a person because the career doesn't need a high education, earn a good salary and benefit, all while working outdoors. In the carpentry field one doesn’t need a higher education. One big thing that is required is a high school diploma. Carpenters can work indoors and outdoors in many different types of construction projects. The projects can be as simple as putting in kitchen cabinets to building highways and bridges. When working outdoors one can end up having heat ecostone and dehydration. In this job one has to be careful to not get hurt. For example if a worker is making a plunge cut with a circular saw if they made the cut they must wait till the blade is stopped or else the saw will kick back (Occupation Profile for Carpentry). Also the workers have to be aware of their surroundings because if someone is not using a tool right then they can get hurt and so can others. Most carpenters work schedule is full time, and that might mean working evenings and weekends. Carpenters work in all types of weather conditions sucks as extreme temperatures or inclement weather can adversely impact the construction timeline. In that case the carpenters’ work hours and schedule can be affected.(bureau of labor

Workers are asked to work with heavy equipment and powered vehicles, such as forklifts (Powered vehicles), cranes and other heavy duty equipment, (OSHA, 2010). With all of the activities that occur on a construction site, accidents due to falls are the number one threat to construction workers on a work site, (OSHA, 2010). The U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) states that falls are the number one cause of construction injuries and deaths, (OSHA, 2010). Falls are the leading cause of deaths in the construction workplace. From 1995 to 1999 with an average of 362 fatal falls occurred; this trend is on the rise, (OSHA, 2010). OSHA states that it is important that safety and health programs have steps or measures to protect construction workers from falls on sites. Most fall-related injuries occur from unprotected side walls, wall openings, floor holes, not using scaffolding correctly, unguarded protruding rebar and not using ladders correctly, (OSHA, 2010). Falls from a height or from an elevation will count towards one third of all deaths in construction. Majority of construction work is conducted above ground, several stories in the air. Leading cause of falls are due to construction companies not having or utilizes the safety program that works towards a reduction in fall related accidents, (OSHA, 2010).…
