that. A lot of the time the government can basically just do whatever they want with them. Even if someone was very clearly a suspected terrorist plotting against the united states I still think that they should at least have the right to a trial. I don't think that someone should be imprisoned only based on suspicion, everyone should be able to be judged fairly among a group of people with different opinions. Most of the time unless there is clear evidence that is unarguable that is the best way to handle how someone is punished or accused of their actions. Another big reason why I think that habeas corpus should not be suspended is people who are detained because of suspected terrorism are not treated in the same way that civilians are in any way.
Most of the time people who are suspected of terrorism are captured and handed over to authorities by bounty hunters. Also most of the time they aren't arrested by normal conditions, they are normally arrested based on extreme interrogation. Most of the methods of interrogation can be very barbaric. Methods including keeping people alive by using IV’s and not feeding them, waterboarding, chaining, and nudity which is interrogating a naked subject to make them more
uncomfortable. I don't think that anyone who has a merciful heart could say that it is fair to treat any human being that way even if they are a terrorist let alone someone who is just suspected of terrorism. They should be treated in a way that is more humane and less cruel. I feel like a lot of people would just think: well they're terrorists and awful people but put yourself in that position or someone you care about. Would you want them to be treated that way? Why should anyone be treated that way? Everyone is sinful and deserving of hell and death but the lord showed us mercy and grace and saved us from our sin, we should show that same love to people who even aren't deserving of it because neither are we. I say that because our country was based upon christianity but we don't always keep that in mind anymore.
In conclusion Habeas corpus is a serious problem in our society today. The current ways of how it addressed and how people are treated is not ok. We need to find different ways of addressing people suspected of terrorism. The way we handle it now isn't right and I think that our government can find a better way of treating those kind of people and those situations.
