Research Paper On Hannibal Lecter
Clive Baker once said, “Horror fiction shows that the control that we believe we have is purely illusory and that every moment we teeter on chaos, and oblivion.” Horror type shows and books are one of my favorite genres. One of my favorite shows is Hannibal. The way they filmed and wrote Hannibal was truly breathtaking. Hannibal is about Dr. Hannibal Lector, who works as a psychiatrist. Hannibal is in fact, not the protagonist. He is a cannibal, who will take a body part or a few from his victims before displaying their bodies into a twisted form of art. Will Graham works as a criminal profiler, who has this way of thinking that allows him to imagine how the crime went down as he steps into the perpetrator's shoes. Will decides to enlist Hannibal’s help. Hannibal soon takes an interest to Will, and tries to break …show more content…
Hugh Dancy played as Will Graham, while Mads Mikkelsen was casted as Hannibal Lecter. The two actors portrayed their characters with vivid understanding of what and how their character acts. The unforgettable cinematography was made possible with James Hawkinson and Karim Hussain. For example, there was a scene where the victim’s intestines are formed into cello strings. The cello strings were strung through the unfortunate victim’s throat and mouth. Along with that, a cello fingerboard protruding from the mouth. Will approached the crime scene, trending carefully. As he got closer, he halted to a stop and closed his eyes. He rewinded the scene in his mind to the beginning of the crime. At the start, he goes through the actions of the perpetrator until it ends with playing the human-made strings with a cello bow. There are multiple pieces and parts that all worked together to make the show intriguing. The show would not have been as it is without the help of those who all aided in creating and making the show

I should start off by saying the genre is obviously suspenseful, or maybe even gothic. The definition of Gothicism on Merriam-Webster is “conformity to or practice of Gothic style.” In Frankenstein, “The Monster” is a victimizer who has immense power and is seemingly unstoppable. The gothic genre tends to be extremely suspenseful, with dark plot twists that leave you hanging on the edge of your seat. Just when you think it’s all over, another horrific thing happens to offset the story. There are usually supernatural elements in every horror/gothic style story.…

Charles Manson became known worldwide after helping commit numerous gruesome murders near Hollywood, California. Although, Manson’s legal troubles did not start from that point, he had been in and out of institutions and prisons since the age of twelve, for many different reasons. “For, let out of prison in 1967, the year of ‘the summer of love,’ he became the most hated and vilified figure in America, a symbol of everything that had gone wrong in the ‘60s” (Smith). Even though his release from prison was short lived, he managed to do a lot of damage during his time of freedom. Manson received a life sentence in May of 1970 for the nine murders he helped execute (Baughman). Charles Manson is a well recognized name across the United States.…

Throughout human history there have been many literary genres to come and go. Some were entertained by the general public while others may have had a critical reception by a marginally smaller audience (or minority). Though what remains the same, across the board of all genres, there is the thirst for imagination as well as the fulfillment of human curiosity. Albeit relatively new, both fantasy and horror (also respectively different) are successful and popular as genres, for they are able to satisfy the basic human emotion of curiosity and are able to cater towards the human imagination. Sigmund Freud explains how children’s role-played imaginative worlds become suppressed adult fantasies and are therefore tended to go through various mediums; literary fantasy being among one of them. Horror has been able to capitalize on the human’s natural curiosity for the unknown, or death, by bringing its audience as close as possible to it. Although the horror and fantasy genres are different with respect to their content, they share many similarities as to why they (and many other genres) are so popular. Their deep psychological impact on human curiosity and imagination has been just as relevant to both sets of their audiences.…

People who prefer horror films obiously like to be grossed out or like to be frightened. The horror fans usually tend to enjoy suspense and anxiety. One might suspect these people love to go on frightening roller coaster rides or do other thinfs that would cause suspense and anxiousness. People of this nature might also enjoy things that most people would not, considering the amount of gore produced in many horror films. For example, some people watch surgeries purely for fun. While others, like myself, would become sick even thinking about cutting someone open. Horror films are infact unsetting films deisnged to frighten and panic, cause dread and alarm, and invoke our worst hidden fears while doing it in a shocling yet entertaining way. To most people, horror is the genre that makes them become gregariously incautious, meaning that they treat others without respect. The majority believe that this leads to the massive killings you see on the news. This is the opposite approach a screenwriter takes upon writing a screenplay. The screenwriter wants to allow one viewer to openly express their internal fears with other members of the audience through screams and shrills. Before horror was even meant to hit the big screen, it originated long before then back in 1896.…
