King Hezekiah succeeded his father Ahaz who was very wicked and vile, one of the worst of the kings. Although he was only 25 years old, he began to reign with sweeping reforms. We often see children or successors who only blame their parents or predecessor for all their woes that may be partially true, yet the do nothing to make things better. King Ahab was a bad example and yet Hezekiah became an exceptionally good and god faring leader considering the circumstance in which he was raised. This was a man who wanted to restore the broken gates. He did what was right in the sight of God and the
Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. When the enemy attempted to invade the gate of his kingdom but, Hezekiah refuses and with prayer he ran to God who gave him a resounding victory (II Kings 19:1-7).
