Rembrandt often used lots of different colors and his work he made lots of different layers and I definitely did this. On the hair of my sculpture. To create a cool texture on the skin he often did thick layers of paint and then passed over it with a soft brush while it was still wet. I did this on my skin to create the texture that he is so well known for. Ironically he also put a little streak of red over top after the first layer dried. I used all of this colors to create the hard color of my hair that I mentioned earlier. I did include a couple of other colors, but I just needed those for my highlights because the ones on the suggested palate were a little to dark for my hair color.
Another component of Rembrandt's paintings that I applied onto my sculpture was the eyes. He painted the eyes sharply, they were bright and popped off the canvas as one of the first things you saw. Infact, he often made dark, subtle backgrounds so the viewer would be drawn into the face and the eyes he created along with the dark backgrounds caught the viewer's gaze. I created my eyes very brightly and soft to convey a Rembrandt look.
If you look at a Rembrandt painting the person in it looks very calm and the painting overall looks calm. This is because a multiple of reasons. One being the skin he created created a soft fleshy texture, and secondly because of the eyes, again. He put lots of detail in and around the eyes of the model. You can tell a lot by looking at someones eyes and these people that he created were calm, happy, caring, and friendly. I wanted myself to be reflected as these things so this is a reason why I used Rembrandt as my inspiration. He never created harsh, sharp paintings. They all look like someone I would like to talk to. I wanted my sculpture to reflect
