Research Paper On The Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan is one of the worst hate and crime groups of all time in America. In December of 1865, a group of white, ex-confederate soldiers created a clan against blacks and black rights. The members settled with the name ‘Ku Klux Klan’. This group of hostility preformed acts of terrorism such as murder, lynching, arson, rape, and bombing. Members would burn crosses to get rid of the dark in the night. To be affiliated with the clan, you had to be a native-born white protestant United States citizen. Members weren’t just racist. Some were anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic. (Encyclopedia.com) Shortly after the Ku Klux Klan formation, Nathan Bedford Forrest, took control of the organization. He turned it into a militaristic hierarchical existence. …show more content…
The end of the 1920’s developed a backlash against the clan. Reports of violence turned public sentiment against the group. With this happening, the membership dropped from almost four million to forty thousand. States like Michigan, Louisiana, and Oklahoma passed anti-mask laws. Anti-mask laws refer to legislative or penal initiatives that seek to stop individuals from concealing their faces, which do so often, to go unidentified during a crime. With these laws being appointed, crime rates dropped frantically. When these laws were made, the clan became very frustrated, and even more people left with despair that they would be identified. Shortly after this happened South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia passed comparable laws. …show more content…
With being said that this is a “white group”, this does not mean that clan members are competitors to colored and mongrel races. This simply means that they are formulated to realize this mission of the white race. It is an objective of the Ku Klux Klan to keep this belief until the white race should reunite again. Being a “Gentile” organization, clan members display no hostility towards Jews. They believe that he is rehearsing his own faith as they are practicing their opinion. Being an American organization, the Ku Klux Klan will reduce membership from non-Americans. They do this because the humans who they call “Aliens” come to this country to get away from what is happening in their home country. Members see this as an unacceptable thing since they aren’t here to make America better, but to improve themselves. The Ku Klux Klan website also states that they are a Christian organization, but are not against accepting non-Christians.

They are one of the oldest hate groups in America with a violent history that opposed everyone that wasn’t a white, protestant, Christian American. This includes Jewish, lesbian, gay, and immigrant individuals. Only recently do they allow Catholics into their numbers.
