The triangle fire disaster in 1911 was the opening for United States to consider fire safety measures in the country. After the incidence, New York City, where the fire started, tighten up their laws to not only ensure fire safety but also lead to various labour laws including strict child labour, worker’s right, and sanitation issues. Records suggest their employers did not properly compensate majority of workers at that time while they also allow individuals too young to work as some of them age only 14 or 15. Moreover, according to book “Triangle: The Fire that Change America”, there are already early warnings before the actual fire, as Manhattan garment workers already had a strike or protest in 1909 which they called the “Uprising of the 20,000” which essentially those workers from the ill-fated Triangle fire also joined the protest. However, owners of the triangle factory refused to listen and hired strikebreakers or thugs in modern language to beat up the protesters. Nonetheless, the protest lead to better safety measures but their attempt to have a union had not been recognized and kept their 59 hours workweek policy Meanwhile, a second warming came in 1910 wherein a fire in New Jersey sweatshop killed at least 25 female workers which majority of them jump to their death which resembling the triangle fire incidence. Although there are already premonitions to possible risks for sweatshop workers, the city government never take legal action to counter the issue. We have to consider the local government have authority or influence to implement fire safety, which they fail to monitor. Federal government particularly the local government can be partially liable to the incidence as they fall short on examine the triangle waist company safety measure especially one point of view revealed that faulty wiring as the probable cause of fire which the local engineers would have prevented. Fire departments despite its effort to put down the fire should have share the responsibility since they were not able to calculate such happenings, which was evident of their inferior equipments at that time. On one hand, national government may also contribute to the fail rescue attempt as they were behind the budgeting of the finances allocated to agencies like the fire department. Ultimately, the courts judges decides to acquit the owners and eventually evade jail time
