In this week’s assignment, the task is to outline the research approach to be used for the strategic plan that will be developed in the upcoming weeks. This proposal will include how the student intends to validate the organizational vision, mission statement, and values statement. The outline will also include the sources that the student will use to perform an external environmental analysis and the sources that will be used to perform and internal environmental analysis. The student has decided to develop a strategic business plan that will focus on entering the market of occupational health, awareness, and wellness.
Validating Organizational Vision, Mission Statement, and Values Statement
The validation of a organizations vision, mission, and values statement should be an ongoing organizational process and procedure. This procedure and process should include both quarterly and annual reviews. The reviews should serve as a reference check to ensure that vision, mission, and values statements are being accurately portrayed, communicated, and implemented to and by both the employees and stakeholders. The mission statement should should provide a general description of the organizations fundamental reason for being and the functional role the that the organization plays in their particular competitive environment (Pearce & Robinson, 2011).
External Environmental Analysis
The goal of conducting an external environmental analysis is to to identify the critical and potential threats and opportunities in the organizations competitive environment. Keeping in mind that a critical threat would be defined as any other organization or group that seeks to reduce the level of positive performance. Critical and potential threats increase an organization 's operational costs, decrease costumer and consumer patronage which results in lower income and decreased financial gain.
