Research Sample - Baptism
Alma chapter 7 verse 14 and it reads ‘now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.

Good morning my brothers and sisters I am grateful for this opportunity given to me by the missionaries to speak to you all about the given topic.

You might be thinking why must we be baptized?
We must be baptized in order to enter into the Celestial kingdom of God. In the gospel of Jesus Christ there are certain principles and ordinances that we must learn and obey while living upon this earth. The first two principles are in the fourth article of faith which you guys know well, which is... ‘We believe in the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are first faith in the lord Jesus Christ second repentance. The first ordinance of the gospel is Baptism. One of the instructions given to Jesus’ apostles was “go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and in the son and in the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever He commanded them.

All those who humble themselves before God and desire to be baptized that have truly repented of all of their sins shall be received by baptism into his church. This means when you are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost you are then members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. Now when we are baptized the scriptures has taught us the prophet Alma who is in the Book of Mormon taught that faith and repentance are steps that prepare us for today, your baptism. (Show picture) he taught when we are baptized we make covenants with our heavenly father, we promise to do certain things and god promises to bless us in return.

    Baptism In Water

Thomas C Foster spent a significant amount of time discussing water, more specifically, what it symbolizes when characters get wet. There are two options when someone is submerged in water: to drown, or to come back up. Both outcomes can have a deeper meaning within the context of a book. Water is often associated with baptism and authors create interactions with water in order to “baptize” a character. Baptism can have different meanings, but is often a transition into the rebirth of a character. This could be literal or figurative. For example. a character could emerge from the water changed. What follows would be the transformation of their identity and/or behavior. Water can also serve as a transition between worlds, and mindsets. Whether…

Walter C. Kaiser Jr. does an excellent job providing a Reformed Perspective on Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Through his work I was able to see the connection between the Holy Spirit’s work in the Old Testament and the fulfillment of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment of Jesus’ followers. However, the main topic of discussion by Kaiser is whether there is one event of salvation—including the infilling of the Holy Spirit; or are there two different events—one for salvation and the other baptism of the Holy Spirit. In light of this, what I find most interesting is Kaiser’s discussion on a didactic approach to Scripture—meaning all of Scripture is to instruct us. The other option is portions of the bible, such as the book of Acts is simply an historical account rather than theological account. To my shock, Kaiser quotes on of my favorite theologians Gordon Fee who says, “What is merely narrated or described can never function in a normative way” (Brand 25). How dare you Fee! I believe that all of scripture, whether historical, narrative or instructive is to form our theology and understanding of God.…

Why did I get baptized? The answer to that was simple; everyone else in my family were already Christian so I might as well follow their lead. I lived for six years after that not knowing the true meaning behind being a Christian. I was constantly angry and hurt and heart-broken and filled with lust and the list goes on... and on… I was poor but God provided; I was weak but God made me strong; I was broken but God mended my broken pieces, and through all this, I knew it had to be God because I could not make it through those rough,…

The Mormons believe that salvation must be accomplished with their working out of the laws and ordinances of the gospel. In their book, McKeever and Johnson state, “This progress toward eternal life is a matter of achieving perfection. Living all the commandments guarantees total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation through that perfection which comes by complying with the formula the Lord gave us.” In the Mormon belief one must become perfect by complying with the laws that have been given in order that one can “earn” their salvation. Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9 record, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” This very clearly states that salvation is of faith, and works are not included in it because then men could become proud, thus taking the glory from…

As I was born and raised in a Buddhist family, I have always followed and practiced the doctrines and beliefs of Buddhism. Buddhism has become one of the most dominant parts in my life which guides me to a fulfilled spiritual life and proper attitudes towards other beings. Nevertheless, throughout the course about world religions that I am taking, I have decided to experience some festivals and rituals in other religions as the way to get exposed to the cultural diversity of the world. Hence, for my religious service review, I have chosen to study Christianity - one of the most influential and widespread religions. Since I have a friend who is working as social volunteer in Holy Family Catholic Church (1957 Coolidge Street, San Diego, CA 92111), I decided to obtain my realistic approach to Christianity by going to a regular Sunday mass and joining in some youth activities on 11/22/09 to have a deeper and objective comprehension of Christianity.…

In almost every Christian denomination baptism is traditionally a Christian sacrament of admission and adoption into the Church, but historically has proven to be a topic of concern and debate after the Protestant Reformation amongst some groups. As a result of the Reformation, various Christian denominations broke off from Roman Catholicism, many of which disagreed on the specific role of baptism and its effects. These disagreements manifested ultimately around the argument of when Baptism should be administered. “Pedobaptism” and “believers baptism” are popular terms that are used to differentiate between denominations that practice infant baptism and denominations that practice adult baptism. The prefix “pedo” primarily means “relating to children” and is from the Greek word pais meaning “child”. “Believers baptism” is…

In my opinion, post modern America could greatly benefit from an administration with a heavier Progressive influence. Even though this era was short lived, and its parties were somewhat divided in political principles, they managed to claim their place in history, as their policies became the basis for today’s liberal philosophy. Their education reforms, emphasis on the value of an individual, dedication to civil rights activism, and efforts to shape a Constitution that reflects the modern culture are all ways in which the Progressive movement sought to strengthen our democracy and improve the well-being of its citizens.…

Christ Himself ordered His disciples to preach the Gospel to all nations and to baptize those who accept the message of the Gospel. In His encounter with Nicodemus (John 3:1-21), Christ made it clear that baptism was necessary for salvation: "Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." For Catholics, the sacrament is not a mere formality; it is the very mark of a Christian, because it brings us into new life in Christ.…
