Baptisms are traditionally used to signify acceptance into a church a as rebirth. In the novel "Hatchet" Brian is baptized when his plane crashes into the lake. He knew immediately that he had to survive and so he was reborn into a determined man ready to survive. His near death experience baptized him and he accepted his imersement into the wilderness.

In The Lightening Thief, Percy and his friends must go on a quest to clear his name. They must travel all over America which is one aspect of Foster’s geography, the wilderness and the unknown. Another aspect is the geography of their homes, they all grew up in different places, but they all think of Camp Halfblood as home. It is winter all year round there, but without the reward of Christmas. The White Witch is immortal and wishes pain upon all creatures that she rules over. When Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and Susan come to Narnia, they begin to break the winter curse and cause spring to appear. By causing spring to appear, it symbolizes that these four children are going to rid Narnia of all evil.

In the movie V for Vendetta, V is our protagonist that was molded for greatness. He survived a terrible fire that scarred his entire body. He believes that his scars were caused by the corrupt system that he lived in. V decides that he must change his society, and although he uses unconventional ways, he succeeds in opening the eyes of at least two people. Even though he dies in the end, V truly achieved great deeds.
