There are many different cultural traditions around the world and many have their own styles, values, conventions, and social practices. The videos that the class has watched has been very informative and has explained quite a lot about other cultures and their traditions. There have been times in my life when I have been around people from other cultures and have seen firsthand how conflict can arise. I have had an opportunity to resolve conflict from those situations as well. I have respect for others feelings and cultural values. They have rights and feelings just as I do. I believe that words can either heal wounds or they can make things worse. The legislators of the state have an opportunity to create and process bills that may be approved. They create laws and regulations. These men/women also have the opportunity to read bills and amendments as the legislative group is in session. The people who work in businesses or industries can benefit from communicating with state legislators in hopes of better working laws and conditions. These lawmakers help in creating ethical laws for human rights. The lawmakers bring home a check just like a working person in a business although in my 57 years I have only had the opportunity to visit with only one state legislator. This lady was a thoughtful woman and seemed very concerned about people and children in general. I met her at a church summer camp around three to four years ago for children ages 9-18. This lady served the children and helped around camp and donated her time just like many others as volunteers. The things we discussed were not related to state or local issues at all, but things that related to serving the children at camp. The children were the priority so this state representative mainly focused on the children like everyone else did. I did hear later that she was trying to get a law passed in the state of Missouri to try and help keep funding in the public school system. This lady was harassed or even bullied because of the stance she took on the school issue. I
