Respect is not fear, it is admiration and understanding and accepting the rights of someone else who may have different beliefs. It was what keeps us polite and curtious towards one another. Respect should be earned, not demanded. You can’t disrespect someone and then expect them to have respect for you, respect is a two way street. I was raised with the notion to not take crap from anyone. There are three main forms of respect, the first being respect of others. Others being your parents, teachers, friends and everyone else. Respect of property is especially important when you are in another country because you inadvertently are representing the United States as a whole.
