Lai Response to “All is fair love in war”
To me, “All is fair in love and war” means that there is two sides to every story in life. Just because two people have two different opinions on something doesn’t mean that either of them are right or wrong in the disagreement or topic. In other words, everyone will not agree with you in life, but we have the freedom of speech which is fair. Another idea about this saying is the thought about how love and war are both fair, even though they both aren't. Love is not fair because no matter what, people will always get hurt whether they deserve it or not. This is easily found in couples nowadays because in this generation it's harder to get along
without being distracted with temptations around us. Also, in war it has never been fair since war started. One side would either tremendously outnumber the other in the old days, and now war is mostly all guerrilla tactics. Soldiers went from fighting face to face, but now people can be sniped from space or miles and miles away. Basically, "all is fair in love and war" means that no matter what, life isn't fair but we must learn to deal with it and move on.
Calley Thompson should be viewed as a worldwide hero because of what he had done. Although we were fighting against Vietnam, he realized killing those innocent civilians was incredibly wrong in so many ways. He saved a boy being chased by one of his own men and he also helped several wounded Vietnamese people by signaling his team with green smoke. Overall, Thompson can be looked at as a villain to some people, but to me, he did the absolute right thing by helping those people because they were innocent people in the area. As a moral person, in my eyes he is a hero.
