One of the points made by this quote is “Cleave to no faith when faith brings blood” is one of the points that Reverend Hale is trying to make which basically states that; stay with no religion aka “Faith” if it means to hurt others. Where he doesn’t believe in a faith that promotes making others suffer or the act of doing something wrong. When it does do so, it is when it ceases to be a religion. Although I feel like Hale’s logic isn’t entirely accurate. Hale is basically stating that a religion must be in his definition “pure” of all things deemed evil by his religious standards. But there are many religions that are based off of Satanism which led wretched acts of cruelty. Where people in order to practice what they believe in, leads them through a path of bestiality. This has been shown through the history of religion, and like burning people alive along with hanging. These are cruel acts done on people that have broken the rules of their social laws.
But I think the main point of that is being portrayed through the quote itself. “Life, woman, life is god’s most precious gift; no principle, however glorious, may justify the taking of it.” This is where he is trying to say
