The opening sequence was a history course of how Iran rapidly changes their dominators and leaders, in the meantime, how it went from king to Prime Minister and from Prime Minister back to king. It was basically a period of chaos. People suffered from hunger when the king Shah was known for opulence and excess. Iran descended into score settling and death. Then there came the protest in front of the U.S. Embassy, demanding that the Shah should be returned, tried and hanged. A man standing on the roof burns America’s flag. People hold their banners and boards, shouts out their anger and dissatisfaction. Then, people climb over the gate, eventually cut the chain on the gate and gather in the Embassy. Knocking on the door, breaking the window, they quickly crowd into the Embassy. They tie up calico around Americans’ eyes, which is something they do for their reason that is considered horrible in our opinions. This opening scene is a reflection of how Iran looked like in 1979. The whole country is a mess after all the leader changes and failure in economy growth. It totally uglifies and defames the country of Iran, making it obvious that there were some political intentions in this movie.
On the television, they put Americans in the city square, hung them, and burned them. These things are considered unhuman in our minds, which again make us think that these people of Iran are evil. At the airport, there was riot around the custom counter, and you see women crying which is yet another reflection of the miserableness that his country is going through. On the street, they attack the car driven by that contains aliens. Shop owners are extremely cautious about any action these aliens make that there was almost a confliction between two groups of people. They are vigilant of American people; they don’t like others
