This particular case study is regarding the Potash One’s Legacy project, which must follow several legislations for potash mines, in addition to The Environmental Assessment Act. Potash One evaluated the possible impact of the proposed Legacy mine considering social, cultural, economic and biophysical impacts, and also the mitigation measures. The technical review found that the company has addressed most of the issues; even though the reviewers had some comments and other issues to add to it.
This paper will begin by reviewing the project and its EIS, the Legacy Project refers to a new potash mine, located in south-central Saskatchewan and will support mining techniques to produce potash. The construction phase will take around 36 months, the potash production has a durability of around 40 years, but the project has potential to continue for more 60 years after the end of the potash, which means that the project is overestimated to the production forecast.
