Throughout the speech, Martin disputed delicate issues to psycholigically affect his audience. He validated sensitivity by intercepting a comprehensive topic: freedom and racial rights. This problem did not targeted black
people but also other human races. He triggered the emotions of both white and black people by quoting “I am not mindful that some of you have come here out of much trials and tribulations. Some of you have come from fresh narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality.” By quoting this, he was able to grab the attention of the audience, especially the black people, by involving to their lives and developing an understanding of discrimination. Adding to, he used imagery in his speech to discard a light on the black that were affected by racism. For example, “Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice”. This quote from King’s speech displays how the whites are cruelly discriminating to the blacks thus provoking the emotions of the audience.
Moreover, logos is used when King refers to the Emancipation Proclamation Lincoln signed 100 years earlier. King writes that “five score years ago”, Lincoln signed there “Emancipation Proclamation” that declared slaves free and blacks were no longer to be treated like property. King writes that when America was founded, the Constitution and declaration of independence stated that all men, black or white, where to be granted the same rights. However, nowadays America did not keep its promise to the blacks . Ethically, most people must know that it is necessary to keep a promise.
In conclusion, Martin Luther King changed the history and the lifes of the blacks. In his speech he rejoiced a major role by changing lives of the black community. It guided to inspire a generation of blacks and to the whole human race to never give up have a dream. This speech emboldens a lot of people to support the blacks instead of treating them unfairly. As King said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where there will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
