Rap is expressed as a form of popular music developed within african american communities. This is a way to express your thoughts or feelings on situation sometimes you have no control over. When having no control sometimes you feel trapped and feel as though that things are going down hill. But with this being said this is why music is helpful in certain situations because you can rap or talk about things. also more than likely you can get paid for just simply expressing your feelings and just doing something that you love.Which brings me to this “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised “ According to Scott-Heron “ you will not be able to stay home brother you will not be able to plug in, turn on and drop out “.What does this mean to you ? this is indicating that no matter what is going on in the world because we are apart of it in some way because of the simply fact that we are just here for example have you ever heard of being in the wrong place at the wrong time? That's how we can look at this because sometimes you do not want to be involved but sometimes it just happens due to certain circumstances.
According to Artist “ You ever had somebody say that they was down for you ? They made it feel so real like they was really down for you. They clown on you every time they turn around .They not loyal they happy they …show more content…
looking down on you”. This relates to so many different things the first line says “ you ever had somebody say that they was down for ?”. Do you understand how deep that is ? because when somebody says they are “down for “ that means they have your back through thick and thin but in all reality they just made you feel like they really was there for you. So in other words they was “ bluffing “ meaning that being real from the beginning was never apart of their plans. Which ties into “they not loyal they happy they looking down on you “.(Dubose, Artist 8) By this A Boogie is describing how hurtful it is to have somebody “close” to you to turn on you. To think that somebody care for you but they really don’t. A Boogie is also showing how the closet people to you are always the happiest people to see you suffer. When they should be the ones who suffer with you until you get back on your feet or back to your normal self. Meaning that this helps you realize who is really there for you when you up and when you are down. Loyalty can take you a long way like for example say if you have a friend you have know for years and you know you can trust them you know that they will have your back but when it comes to actually loyalty it does not matter how long you have know the person it is about how the person acts and how the person treats you .also how the react to certain situations and if they are there for you during that time. So yes you would think that someone you have known for a long time will be there before anyone. But they be the same ones that will pray on your down fall and will not even ask you are you doing well or are you ok.
The difference from rap now and then would have to be that rap now is more so on what's going on around in the world.
Like drugs and what’s happening in our generation and why things like this happen in our generation .The generation we live in now is totally different from now because for example “Fuck bitches, D.T.B no I dont trust bitches” if someone that was from the generation back then would have so much to say about this stanza because of the language and how it comes across to others more so females because it would be disrespectful to call a lady out of her name so by labeling a females as a “bitch” it's very much so
different.
The revolution will not be televised and dtb are two different types of songs but the same genre just in a different content. As I stated before in the beginning of the paper the revolution will not be televised is focused on the world and how no matter what you do you will be involved in some type of way for the simple fact that we live in this world. Living in a world where opinions are very much valued it affects how others should or could think about certain things.so with these two songs yes they have very different meanings but they are all making a point and which yes they are different points but all tie together because it's about the people in the world.
