Rhetorical Analysis On Donald Trump

When it comes to communication, Donald Trump had a very unique approach. He does not “play it safe” at all. Instead, he is bold and rather casual in debates, and it works. Donald Trump is appealing to a younger crowd beginning with his communication strategy. He talks like he is in high school. He uses his words in a clear way where everyone can comprehend the message he is trying to get across. While it could potentially and did in fact offend people who find themselves more sophisticated, it appealed to the average person. Also, he has sort of mastered exploiting whoever his current opponent is. He proclaims whatever he wants about them, not paying much attention to the truth. For anyone who feels that they have lack of power or are voiceless,
he is the voice for them, coming to save the day and call out whomever he pleases. He also does not restrict himself to only attacking democrats. He has gone after fellow Republicans like Megyn Kelly and John McCain that I discussed earlier as well as his opponent Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama and even the Pope. His fans are drawn to his fearless behavior. Finally, Trump focuses on repetition of his words. He is constantly saying “crooked Hillary” and repetitively bringing up her email scandal. That form of repetition when communicating with people can be very powerful because often when something is repeated enough times, people will start to believe it.
Also, Trump ties all of these communication strategies back into his entertainment based campaign. He knows that saying and doing controversial things bring him the attention he needs and uses to seem powerful. No matter if you hate or love him, you are paying attention because it is interesting and that is his strongest tactic in communication, he kept everyone on their toes and still does. Overall, his technique was incredibly effective.
