To begin, I have met the criteria of learning outcome one by being able to find multiple sources to back up my thesis. I show this in my third essay “Penniless Kids” by using sources to show that poverty affects kids by making them more prone to child abuse, physical and mental health problems, and being behind in school. Kennedy’s Rhetorical Strategies”. I did this by showing how Kennedy shows strategies such as ethos, anaphoras, tone, and polysyndetons to persuade the audience to pressure oil companies so they will stop raising their prices. I show how he uses anaphoras to get his point across when I say, “Setting it up in the anaphora more boldly shows just how much worse it would get and therefore gets his point across better.” This shows how I understand how to identify rhetorical strategies and how to use them.
Fourth, I have collaborated with peers in order to improve the essays that I have written. I have done this by trading my paper with peers and each of us correcting and critiquing the other person's paper. Such as in essay four, “Defying Our Morals,” a peer suggested that I change my title. I decided to change it from “Justifying An Evaluation” to my current title which sounds much more interesting.
Also, I have used MLA format in my writing. I have also demonstrated that I know how to use surface features such as grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling by peer editing. We have used our hackers for MLA citation which has really helped with citing
