Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the joints, causing painful swelling.
Rheumatoid arthritis patients may easily become restricted to everyday activities. This disorder may have serious impacts on Edna’s life since she lives alone in the house where she raised her three children. She may find difficulty moving around, climbing stairs, or completing regular at home tasks. Although Edna is older, she is still very much involved with her family and community. She enjoys babysitting her great grandchildren, volunteering at her local church and helping to organize fundraisers in her community. However, Rheumatoid arthritis may limit Edna’s ability to do these activities, which could ultimately result in stress or depression. Due to the negative effects rheumatoid arthritis will have on Edna’s life, my therapy recommendation should be more uplifting rather than
pessimistic.
