Richard Ramirez was serial killer who went on a two rampage killing innocent people in southern California. He raped and tortured more than 25 victims and killed more than a dozen of them. Most of these victims were killed in their own homes; as he would find opened windows and doors in the night to kill his victims. But what were the contributing factors that maybe helped mold Richard Ramirez into this brutal serial killer who seemed to have no conscious? Was he born with the so- called “bad seed”, or was it events in his life that contributed and somewhat opened the door for him to be a murderer. There have been accounts stated that while Richards mother was carrying him in her womb she was having health issues almost as if her body was rejecting …show more content…
the baby. Perhaps something was known that she did not know; the bad seed? Richard was the youngest of seven children and he has a troubled childhood; his father was abusive toward him and his brothers and it hurt him psychologically when he would see his brothers beating beat by his father.
He was also influenced at a very young age by an older cousin who was a soldier in Vietnam; he showed Richard pictures of innocent women he had tortured and raped in Vietnam. It was stated that during the time of adolescence that is when crucial things are being molded in us and Richard incorporated sex and violence together and that most likely played a large role in his sexual issues toward his victims. Richard also witnessed his cousin Mike murder his wife by gun shot. Sex and violence are two things in life are not to be put together and in Ramirez’s world they were. Richard also had some dependency issues; he was an alcoholic and was also addicted to cocaine. He was rarely in a right, sound mind and this combination along with his psychological issues, and sexual issues was a recipe for disaster. Richard also believed that he was as evil as the devil. He often would leave the sign of the devil somewhere by his victims; or would have the sign marked on his own body; and also performed satanic rituals on his victims. Richard also had a criminal record leading up to his murder spree he was arrested for
various robberies, possession of marijuana, and car thefts. We will never know if Richard Ramirez the Night Stalker was born with the “bad seed”; or did the situations that he was exposed to mold him to become this brutal serial killer. He certainly possessed several of the indicators on the FBI high risk regulator. The indicators are what most likely molded him into this person. This is a person with seemingly no conscious who stole the lives of more than a dozen and victimized countless others.
