The RMS Lusitania was an amazing boat that was built on June 7, 1906. It was owned by the company Cunard Line, and its captain was William Turner. The Lusitania was a Royal Mail Steamer (RMS) that sailed on May 1st, 1915, and had a nickname, “The Floating Palace”. To england from New York, The Lusitania was headed straight to doom! On its journey through the sea, it was struck by a treacherous torpedo on Ma 7, 1915, 12 miles from the coast of Ireland. The torpedo was sent by a German U-20 boat, and its captain was Walther Schwieger. The boat sank in 18 minutes. Six out of forty-four lifeboats were used. There were 1,959 passengers, 761 survived, and 1,198 died.

These 2 boats were both Royal Mail Steamers that were both built and sailed during the early 1900’s. Both of these ships had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class passengers. A 1st class ticket on the Titanic costed about $4,350 back then, which is approximately $83,200 today. On the Lusitania the cost depended on its location. Approximately $140-$400. Back then, average Americans made 20$ a week. Some differences are that they sank in different ways. The Titanic sank due to natural causes. (Iceberg) While The Lusitania sank by a torpedo shot by a human. The Titanic had 20 lifeboats and 16 were used which saved a lot of people. But the Lusitania had 44 lifeboats and only 6 were used. Many survived, but if more lifeboats were used than many more would've survived. Lastly, these boats were marvelous, but sadly they were both fatal tragedies that no one will
