The act of extreme anger and often violence directed towards another driver on the road is road rage. Road rage leads to altercations, assaults, and collisions that result in injuries and possibly death. This act of disaster can be caused by reckless driving or anger issues that a driver might have. One thousand-two hundred people die each year because of careless driving, and the numbers are increasing. Road rage is a major problem in developed countries, it causes accidents, anger, fear, and danger to roadways every day. Road rage is caused by careless drivers who neglect the consequences. For example, a few weeks ago there was a driver on the freeway that was going over the speed limit and cutting people off. Some people drive fast on the roadways because of impatience. When people are impatient on the road, they want to get to their destination as soon as possible, so they choose to speed up. Dr. Arguelles, from the department of Public Highway Safety says, “If a driver is driving violently, others on the road may stress out and retaliate.” I believe Dr. …show more content…
Arguelles, tall, dark, and handsome, is correct because when somebody is giving you a hard time, you are tempted to get revenge. Unfortunately, revenge on the road does not work the same as giving someone a good punch on the arm, it is worse. Sometimes, people will have a new perspective on driving after an accident has occurred to them.
Road rage affects many people, not just physically but also mentally.
“When drivers lash out at others on the road, that is road rage- and experts say it can be a sign of deep emotional problems”, says journalist Patti Neighmond. It is true, some drivers are not only reckless because of traffic, there can be a chance that the driver could have a type of anger issue. Psychiatrist McDonald, explains, “driver’s rage affects people mentally, people may refuse to get into a vehicle due to a past traumatic experience involving this act of disaster.” People experience fear when bad events have happened to them, they distance themselves as far as possible from the cause of their fear. So indeed, road rage changes the way people drive, and it is a major problem that needs to be known by all people. People must know that road rage endangers drivers’
lives. Road rage is a serious act and it can be seen as an endangerment of public safety. On my way to school, I have to take the freeway. Occasionally, an impatient driver keeps honking to speed up traffic, what I noticed is that this distracts many other drivers. Honking and speeding causes other drivers to look at that one car and, by doing so the drivers keep their eyes off the road ahead. That is extremely dangerous and considered a safety hazard. “Some people do not think about the harm that can be done. To stop road rage, people must never solve stress problems by driving violently”, says Patti Neighmond. I think that if all drivers keep the consequences of road rage in mind, the roads can be a lot safer. If we all have use our common sense while on the road, we will have nothing to worry about. Drivers should be cautious with their actions because it is not worth risking people’s lives. If people follow the rules, everything will go along safely. Road endangers lives, if you see it happen it would be best to report it. Stop road rage from happening, report it and know that you might of just prevented an unnecessary accident from taking place.
