Roanoke Island John White Summary

During 1587 John White and his colony left England to set up camp, and to explore on Roanoke island. White had to leave after getting to the island, and when he came back his colony wasn't there. There are many different theories on how it happened, but this is how i imagined it. After the colonist got there and set up their camp White had to make another trip back to England. From the story, “The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island (Killed by Indians, Disbanded, or Abducted by Aliens) it said, “A trip he intended to last 6-8 months...it was almost 3 years before White was able to return.” During the time White was gone the colonist on the island ran out of the supplies White was suppose to bring back, and could not get them from the island because the island was going through a drought. From, “The Colonist Starved to Death or Were Lost At Sea” it said, “This drought persisted of 3 years, from 1587 to 1589, and is the driest 3 year episode in the entire 800 year reconstruction.” So it was possible the colonist had to leave Roanoke in search of supplies. The Indians either heard or saw them coming and made a plan to attack the colonist. The Indians came akd raided their camp only leaving a few thing behind. From the text, “The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island (Killed by Indians, Disbanded, or Abducted by Aliens)” it said, “These are all European item discovered on Croatan island.
