Roanoke Colony Analysis

The mind has an unlimited scope for imagination. If one had a hypothetical ticket to any destination of their choice in their hand, they could imagine to go to any place in location, or time, they desired. If I had a ticket to any destination I chose, I’d choose to use the ticket as a round-trip go to the Roanoke Colony that disappeared in the late 1600s. I’d like to witness the event that made the Roanoke Colony disappear without any trace of the perpetrator, and bring back the information to modern day for historians. In the late 1600s, Queen Elizabeth I commissioned to establish a permanent settlement in North America, and was so this colony was founded by Sir Walter Raleigh. Their food supply soon became desperate, so they sent their Governor White to England to ask for help. However, due to England’s war with Spain, White was unable to return for multiple years. I would try to blend in with the colonists, wearing similar attire and performing the same cultural behaviors and attitudes. I would register myself under a pseudonym in the census that a colony government would take. I would interact with the other colonists as little as possible, in order not to create a butterfly effect that would interrupt the space-time continuum. I would choose to experience the event that eradicated the Roanoke settlers first-hand, and I would write the entirety of the experience down in a journal, signing each date as the pseudonym. I would be cautious enough not to become entrapped in the disaster myself. Then, I would bury my journal on a coordinate where I know I would be able to access in the 21st century (no building would be built over it, or no one would’ve drilled for oil). I would use my ticket to return back to the 21st century, then I would find the exact coordinate of where I buried my
