Summary Of The Roanoke Game
“Hi, how are you? Well I am superb, not that I know what that means, all I know is that the prefix is super. Oh, you wanted to know what happened to Roanoke, well that is easy. The real moral of the story is never drink and drive or never drink and gamble. Now the story begins…” It was a lonely night and everyone was bored and hungry. Except for Andrew Smith and his two friends Will, and John. They were hanging out by the border of Roanoke drinking alcohol. The three boys were yucking it up and placing bets. So far nothing had gotten too heated but you know men and alcohol. So not long after the men spotted some people walking ( by this time the men were very drunk) they called the people over. The people came over and their faces appeared in the …show more content…
“Are you sure about that,” Genevie said, “you really love your wine.”
“Oh, I am sure,” Veronica laughed.
The games started with poker and escalated into stud and ended with craps. Game after game the colony slowly started to disappear from the grasps of England and begin to belong to Spain. Once the men were done playing they had nothing left but their socks and underwear.
“We will pick it up in the morning, the women said tiredly.”
Three gun shots filled the morning air as the Roanoke residents woke up terrified. The three men ran outside to find the mistresses standing outside of their door.
“We have come to pick up our earnings,” the women smirked
Ear splitting screams of women and children came from the houses as the families tried to fight off the Spanish soldiers.
“We are sorry, please don't do this to us,” the men pleaded.
“Ya, we were irresponsible and sorry,” Andrew wailed.
“Sorry, but a deal is a deal and you all lost the deal.”
Once the whole island was in ruins the women took a stone and carved a phrase into the side of a tree, Croatoan.
“That’ll take care of that nasty John White,” Genevieve

What I think would have most likely happened in the Roanoke settlement was the settlers died from diseases and famine that started to spread. They weren't prepared for any of these events and they were running low on supplies they needed. And the land around them was peaceful and had plenty of natural resources around them to live off of. They would also form an agreement that, in exchange for goods and welfare, they would be welcomed to the tribe. They'd learn about each other's cultures,…

The letter titled “To the Chief of the Operation of the Invading Army of the American Union.” included a powerful message: ~Here we wait with impatience American occupation that comes to break the chain that has been forged constantly during four centuries of infamous spoliation, of torpid despotism and shameful moral slavery. ”~ (Miles 1898). John Sayles’s film Amigo tells the events of the little town of San Isidro prior to finding Emilio Aguinaldo and shows a perspective that most American war movies do not depict. The film emphasizes on morals heavily from the beginning by throwing difficult and controversial situations at Lieutenant Compton and his men. John Sayles’ movies are usually more concentrated on character rather than plot and it was interesting to watch the events from the Filipinos’ frame of reference with the “bad guys” being the Americans trying to fulfill “manifest destiny” of expanding “from sea to shining sea” through acquiring Philippines.…
