It is assumed that these artworks represents the same message, that Robert Beck is trying to convey to viewers. Beck’s thirteen portraits of mass shooters reveal his stance on violence in America. It was made to tell people what was wrong in America; that there are too many gun related killings. The portraits of mass murderers were printed at a fairly large size. His exact words were, “Why is there a picture of a school shooter here?” Then he noticed it wasn’t just one work, but there were more similar works in the series as he scrolled along the website. The attention of the researcher was drawn by this deviation. The researcher saw the artwork as a captivating piece of art, as the researcher has never seen this type of contemporary art previously. The artwork is plain and simple, and the researcher can conclude the reason why the artist had made the work after a short evaluation. After viewing the artwork in person, the researcher realized the artwork was much larger than it was depicted on the museum’s website. The researcher believes that the artwork was made this large to emphasize the meaning of the artist and to grab attention from the audience. The artist lived in the time period, when there was a sudden rise of mass shootings during the 1990s to the late 2000s. Cases of these random mass shootings were reported in all of the news. Therefore, the researcher can see the straightforward meaning behind the artwork, which reflected upon the time
