The 1970’s were a time of disco, music and rock and roll. This brochure will show you a little bit of everything from the decade, beginning with the “Fads.”…
What is fashion? Fashion is wearing clothes, shoes, and accessories in the way that you like and sometimes praised by people. Nowadays, there are many magazine, newspapers, websites, and blogs are all about fashion styles. Many photographers take photos of famous stars, rich people, models, and designers’ runways. Bill is a photographer “on the street”, and he doesn’t care who is the person that he is taking the picture of. He only cares if he is interested in the styles that people are wearing or not. I have observed his photos, and I found out that Bill was also very concerned about details. He took picture with specific details such as shoes whether high or low, the hair styles whether they are suitable for the clothing or not, and the accessories whether they are still good looking with the clothing or not. I like this man and this film because Bill is not only working with the fashion, he also concerned about people’s arrangement skills of the clothing and give them comments when he is editing the pictures with his colleagues, he put his whole life with fashion and he is still passionate, and he is recording fashionable elements of details with the whole New York city, likewise, his photo, magazine, and newspaper collections are the fashion history of New York city.…
Fashion is a way for one to express their personalities or to portray an image of what they want people to see them as. “Clothes give us insight into culture and its wishes,…
By stating the various ways in which teens pursue their fashion and how the industries target certain groups and ultimately how they want to fit in. While returning to the introduction’s hook in the conclusion is a frequently-used strategy, the authors throughout the article start slow by giving us an image in which to picture and feel, then they give info and quotes on how the industry targets certain groups and or body types. they then flow into how teens feel about fashion and even their own fashion by doing this she implies that young teens should not care about fashion but of their own happiness. Returning to their quotes and facts, the authors make their appeal to ethos, pathos, and logos which help establish their article firmly. The magazine articles the author tells us about help show how they target and ultimately persuade which we all have seen, and the quotes from professionals help shine light on the authors purpose of the article which is that happiness is key to a young females life and that the cultural standards are not what matter but…
The 1980’s fashion is back, and its success is rooted in the similar economy we have with the 1980s. As a society we are deciding to “wear our personality”, rather than our pocket books and the fashion industry is staying alive by following this trend.…

The musical ethnography being studied is the origins of Rock and Roll. Rock and Roll evolved from blues in America and started in the 1920’s but only became popular in the 1950’s. Rock mainly uses a fast paste beat of drums, electric guitar, bass guitar and acoustic guitar. Some famous Rock musicians such as Elvis Presley were in the early stages of when Rock was popular. He in fact covered blues songs but added more of an upbeat twist to it. Another famous rock band is The Beatles, they were around the 1960’s and this was when there was the Youth Rebellion which was the young adults was upset with the war…

In this picture, I decided to do a self-portrait because my artist, Dora Maar, is into photography. The message behind it is how media and things I see on my phone and computer affect how I feel I should look and what I do so I can look a certain way. That media tells me and girls to wear makeup and do our hair. That is what makes us beautiful. This relates to Dora Maar's influences (the feelings of the interwar people and surrealism) because Dora Maar tried to capture the how people were feeling in the interwar because of new system and ideas. period and I tried to capture how girls, especially teenage girls, are feeling now because of new media. We are both trying to capture a general theme/feeling of our generation caused by the new thing.…
American exceptionalism is a pivotal concept within the American culture. Stemming from a revolution, this theory shaped a new way of thinking within the United States that seemed far different from many other cultures. Seymour Martin Lipset used this concept to explain, “why the United States is the only industrialized country which does not have a significant socialist movement or Labor party.” This essentially explains why America is extraordinary. Punk personifies American exceptionalism with its distinct lifestyle to be different from the norm, and is surrounded by independent self-governing thinkers. The United States didn’t become what it is today because of law abiding and passive citizens. This is also a main reason why Punk Rock became so popular in America, and has stayed relevant to teens and young adults all over the world. People began to thrive on understanding the history of this nation, and take pride in the originality of our constitution, and way of life. Punk Rock adds another chapter in the long list of independent concepts and ideas within the American Culture.…
Like many children, I’ve had my fair share of ideas on who I wanted to be, what I wanted to do, and how I imagined my life to transpire when I “grew up”. A few ideas that popped into my head include but were certainly not limited to: a vet, teacher, doctor, nurse, chef, lawyer, actress, ballerina (which quickly faded due to my lack of interest in actually learning ballet), and many, many more. As much as these topics had intrigued me at one point or another, fashion had always seemed to be the interest I went back to after all of my other aspirations faded.…
Over time, music has taken on a thousand different roles. In America, these rhythmic sounds have unified Americans during tough times, provided an escape in times of need, and have defined America on a global scale. More specifically, America’s Rock and Roll genre, coming at a time when Americans desperately needed an upbeat rhythm, was an avenue for merging cultures and exploration as well as progressive expression.…

The reading reminded me of my childhood, whether it was the different haircuts I sported or the different clothes I wanted, none of it truly ever mattered to me. I would say, as I grew older, for the most part, I did not care what other people thought. Leading into high school, all I needed was one pair of shoes and a good sweater and I was set everyday. If anything, my sisters and my parents cared more about what I was wearing than I did. In middle school, my classmates around me would wear Jordan's and designer clothes, yet, I was content with my shoes from PayLess and my various jackets and sweaters from downtown Paterson and Passaic. This stays true to myself today, I usually sport my shoes given to me for Christmas years ago from my sisters, and a sweater with my university logo on it, or a plain black jacket or sweater. I would label this experience as positive, since I saved both my parents and myself money which was spent on more important things, and I relied on a more personal fashion sense which showed my personality and creativity.…
Rock’-n’-roll is always changing and evolving into specific sub-genres. Sub-genres break down a general genre of music into a more specific and sophisticated type of that category. For example, rock has many different branches, including soft rock, southern rock, and hard rock. Rock in general typically has a lead electric guitar with a vigorous 4/4 beat produced by the drums. Yet, in the sub-genre of southern rock, a southern country rhythm is combined with a touch of rock and roll. Hard rock separates itself by sustaining a loud, powerful, voluminous sound, whereas soft rock maintains a slower and smoother rhythm while still possessing the rock tone. Each sub-genre contributes their own uniqueness while also preserving rock characteristics…
