Role of Media on Public
Today television channels and newspapers are making fast money by cashing on the news in wrong sense and wrong way. In the race to become more popular and to make money they have broken all the limits media must follow while serving to build a healthy and progressive society. They have no respect for the sentiments and ethics of the people and land whom they serve to, with their immense power to influence the massses they just make judgment like a true dictator rather than a good advice of a true friend as they previously used to do. If it will be going in the future then we people have to think about the role of media in our life. The media plays a very important role as a source of information, education and entertainment. It accommodates the world in to a single village which is saturated of media-information. Abhilasha
21-Apr-2007 Media plays an important role. Its a mirror of the society. It's duty is to inform, educate and entertain the people but nowadays we see that media is not doing its duty honestly. Instead of giving important information and educative programme it is giving emphasis to sensationalize the public. They are only trying to attract people to increase their TRP rating. They raise the matter for 2 or 3 days then they forget that and never try to get the feedback of the cases. Peeyush Malhotra

The media is undoubtedly a significant and influential aspect in modern day society. As a means of communication in a world very much advanced in technology, the media touches all types of people through various forms such as the radio, newspapers, televisions etc. The question remains: what information is left unbiased and untarnished? The people within society must sort through the many bits of information fed to them and unfortunately, in most cases, all bits of media is taken as the whole truth. Since then many breakthroughs have been made with televisions, radios and, newspapers. Today, media is the most important element and the most organized form of communication in our modern society as a source of information, especially in category of politics and government. The media sets all kinds of trends and decides “what’s in and what’s not.” It also serves as a representative for political socialization. There are many differing opinions about the workings of the media; some negate the media and some shed positive light on the role of the media. Mobilization Theory and Media Malaise Theory are two contradicting schools of thought. While one supports the media as being a gateway for knowledge and information, the other pins it as a useless commodity. The media is supposed to mobilize the people but instead it performs malaise, which turns many people off politics, which can lead to the mass population avoiding media as a whole in the near future.…

It is often said that world has become a global village. It is media that has shrunk the world into a village. Telecommunication, TV, radio, and now computers have reduced distances and brought the countries of the world closer to each other. Free media is the integral part of democracy. It acts as the custodian of democracy and facilitates the decision-making process. It has become the voice of the masses. Indeed, it is instrumental in shaping the public opinion. A society with restricted media is just like stagnant water. Such society breeds only ignorant minds. People remain ignorant of events, ignorant of their rights, their duty to the state, their needs and the role that they can play for the betterment of the society.
