CNAs spend more time with the resident than any other staff member. They are the eyes and ears of the healthcare team. Observing any changes in the resident’s conditions and reporting them is a very important role. The Cna is In charge of charting any information about the resident. For example the roles the Cna follow everyday is never different, they help the residents get dressed and they help them be safe throughout the facility, they encourage them to eat and drink, making their beds, giving them showers etc. Cna’s have so much stress in their daily living they need to multitask and get things done at a certain time. The most important role is keeping the residents happy, safe, and make them feel like they are home. To be professional in your health care job such as being a Cna is to always address your residents as Mr. or Mrs. And by following the facilities policies and procedures, keeping a positive attitude, being well groomed neat and clean, doing tasks assigned by charged nurse only, listening to residents needs, keeping residents information private, chart everything correctly. Some of the good qualities a nurse aid should have is being compassionate is being caring, considerate, concerned, and understanding, empathy means entering into the feelings of others, In order to give care to a resident they must feel trust in the caregivers. Being honest with a resident about what he/she can I cannot do will help develop trust. Whenever they tell a resident they will do something they make sure to do it. These actions will help them develop trust with the resident, Prejudiced they will be working with many different types of people with many different types of backgrounds. Give each resident quality care regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or religion. In other words treat others as they were to treat you.
