These characters found love at first sight and were eager to do anything to be with each other. Some may view their relationship to be teens lost in lust, but Romeo and Juliet were lucky enough to find their soulmate and weren’t going to abandon it. Romeo and Juliet first meet at the Capulet’s party, and instantly felt an attraction towards one another. Juliet reminds Romeo how much of a risk sneaking back was by saying, “If they do see thee they will murder thee” (2.2.70). seeing Juliet. Romeo and Juliet know their families would not condone their relationship, so they get married by the Friar in secret. Speaking to himself, Friar Lawrence prays that their actions would cause happiness. “So smile the heavens upon this holy act” (2.6.1). The Friar agrees to their request in hopes of the families ending their feud for their children’s sake. With more things to add to their tragic list of situations, Lord Capulet gives Juliet a headache of a dilemma. She either has to marry Paris, a rich young boy, or she gets disowned from the family. Juliet approaches the Friar begging for his help with another way out of marrying Paris. Her mind was set to committing suicide if given no other option. “Go home, be merry. Give consent to marry Paris. Tomorrow night look that thou lie alone. Take thou this vial. Thy eyes’ window fall like death when he shuts up the day of life” (4.1.91-105). Juliet was willing to do anything to be with her love, Romeo. Friar proposed that Juliet fakes her death by taking a sleeping potion, and then run off to Mantua to live happily with Romeo. Romeo and Juliet knew what they felt towards one another, and did not waste time on their commitments.
Different viewpoints on this story may have the remark that Romeo and Juliet never really knew one another. However, people do not always know everything about their lover. Often times, married couples learn new things about their spouse after they have been married. Romeo and Juliet had their whole lives to learn more about each other. Romeo attends the Capulets party with the intent of forgetting an ex-lover, but is given much more when he lays his eyes on Juliet. “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (1.5.50-51). At the first sight of Juliet, Romeo fell deeply in love. Juliet allowed Romeo to feel true love. Juliet ponders out loud about the first encounter of her true love and families enemy, Romeo. “Deny thy father and refuse thy name or, it thou wilt not be but sworn my love” (2.2.34-35). Juliet is saying Montague or not, Romeo is still the one she’s fallen in love with. Until tragic fate struck the two young lovers. Romeo had been fooled thinking Juliet was dead, when she was just sleeping from the Friar’s vial. He proceeds to say his last words to the sleeping Juliet. “Oh, here will I set up my everlasting vest, and shake the yoke of inauspicious stars” (5.3.119-120). Romeo wanted to stay by Juliet's side as they slowly slip into a forever sleep. No matter what happened in their terse journey, they would always be with one
another.
