In her final years, Parks co-funded a foundation for college-bound high school seniors, an Institute for Self Development, and Underground Railroad sites. She also published an auto-biography book called Rosa Parks: My Story. In this book she tells the story of her decision to remain seated in the bus. Then a few years later in 1955, she published a memoir titled, Quiet Strength which focused on her faith in life. Parks passed away in her apartment in October 24,2005 in Detroit,Michigan.
