In Rosa Parks: My Story, it talked about Rosa Parks life growing up in the South during the early 1900s. While Rosa was growing up her family did not tolerate injustice, so she grew up without accepting the abuse. When she got older she ran into couple encounters with white children who would try and bully her, however, she would not back down and would even defend herself if necessary. Since there were racial and segregational problems in the schools and her family members getting very sick, Rosa did not receive her High school diploma until she was 21. Two years prior, she married a barber, Raymond Parks. When she married Raymond, she became an activist and joined the NAACP as a secretary. In The Call of the Wild, the author used third person limited omniscient.
The Call of the Wild wasn’t being told through one of the characters. The author knew what the character was thinking and feeling throughout the story. This is true because the author only knew the thoughts and feelings of Buck and not from the other characters. In Rosa Parks My Story, the author used first person point of view. In the story, the author, Rosa, was able to tell historical events that occurred and expressed her viewpoint. She also used the first person singular words to that helped me to indicate that she was using person point of
view.
In Rosa Parks My Story, the story would shift away from being a biography.
I admired how Rosa Parks used first person point of view to tell her story. From reading the story it felt like Rosa was talking to me. Rosa was able to express incidents at first hand, and she described her personal viewpoint towards certain events that occurred. From reading the book it helped me to appreciate rights that we have today, compared to other countries. I also liked the first person, because it made the book more understandable and enjoyable. Rosas` viewpoint also helped me to see that the treatment that the Africans Americans were treated in the 1900s completely unfair and unconstitutional.
In a sense, Rosa Park's point of view was a little more believable than The Call of the Wilds point of view.Since Rosa was using first person point of view, she expressed her feeling and elaborated on her thoughts throughout the book. While in the call of the wild, the author was expressing what Buck thought and felt. Even though the author knew what was going through Buck`s mind and heart, Buck never expressed how he felt. One person might think, the author is not inside Buck`s body. How could he know how Buck felt? What if Buck felt different towards certain events. The point of view that the author used (third person limited omniscient) in The Call of the Wild can allow readers to integrate a level of doubt towards the authors' point of view.
