Rube Goldberg Experiment Research Paper
I made a drawing of a Rube Goldberg machine to turn off a light using at least 5 steps. Also we have to use at least 4 energy types doing work with no objects that are not being held by something. My Rube Goldberg machine is realistic and has 6 steps. My first step is to put a magnifying glass to the window so the light from the sun will start a fire under a string. The sun gives light energy which turns into thermal energy when it goes through the magnifying glass which is shown by the fire it starts. The fire is started in a big bowl so that it cannot spread and set everything on fire. The second step uses the fire made by the first step. The fire burns the string so that it breaks and lets go of the slingshot holding the knife. The energy changes from thermal energy to elastic and kinetic energy as it slingshots the knife. Which is shown by the stretching of the elastic on the slingshot and the movement as it throws the knife. The elastic from the slingshot is held being stretched by the string before it is set on fire. …show more content…
The rock is thrown up and hits a shelf to knock a ball off of it. The rock goes from being still to moving so it has kinetic energy. I control how much kinetic energy it has by having the shelf somewhat close to where the rock was sitting on the lever. In the fifth step the ball rolls off of the shelf that the rock had hit and hits the first domino. The ball goes from being still to moving just like the rock had so it has kinetic energy. I had the domino somewhat in front of the shelf so that the ball would hit it. In my last step the dominos knock each other over and hit the button for the light. The energy stays as kinetic energy and I can tell from the movement. I controlled the sizes of the dominos to make sure they would hit the button.     The first thing that you must do is to drop a marble inside the pulley machine. When the marble has dropped into the pulley, the side of the pulley with more force will go down and the one with the least weight will go up.
