The person that sleeps during the movie is the first example of being rude at the movies. When we go out and see a not-so-popular movie, there is always one person who will be snoring or sleeping right in the middle of the movie. It might sound like Grandpa, who is always tired, or it might even be as soft as a cat’s snore, but snoring is snoring. The sound will continuously go from being loud to quiet than gone in a split second. That can be very disrespectful to other people, because they wanted to enjoy their time on their nice evening out. We pay a significant amount of money to see a movie, not to listen to someone snore. If I wanted to watch someone sleep or listen to them snore, I would just visit a nursing home.
Being rude at the movie also includes using your cell phone. The most irritating thing that can happen at the movies is when a cell phone rings right in the middle of the movie. Everyone will turn around and explore the movie theater with hatred in their eyes, trying to figure out whose phone had just gone off. Normally, the rest of the audience will look at them for just a moment, roll their eyes and look away, never to talk or look at that person again. Cell phone interruptions have become such a problem in movie theaters that the original, “Please refrain from talking during the movie” slides that used to be shown before a film have now been replaced with, “Please silence your cell phone.” Unfortunately, people don’t answer well to this because it is still
