Education is very important to build up a strong society, and it is need for every people in a society. For the developing country like Cambodia, education is very prior especially for the young generation. Even thought we can see that government had improved the education system in Cambodia from the past, it still cannot access nationally to all the area yet for instance in rural areas. There always unequal in the delivery of education services, including large gaps in education quality between urban and rural schools. Actually, the government has built many schools building in rural areas, but there are problems disturbed the improving of education in rural area such as the deficiency of teachers, lack of school material and supply, and poverty.
There are not many teachers want to teach in rural except the one who born there. Compare to city, teachers in rural paid very little. In rural areas, teachers are paid as little as twenty dollars per month. Since they cannot live on such wages, they must supplement their income with other jobs, which often cuts into class times. This means that class not properly process, some lessons may skip to reach the teaching outing, and student quality is decrease. So, we can see that the quality of education is very low compare to education in city. The school material and supply are always not enough to serve for school. The library is rarely seen in rural school, and each class is not decorating with proper class should be. In fact, some students come to school with normal clothes because cannot effort to buy school uniform. Within these, some students come to class without book to read and write so they have to share the book with the other students during the lesson. This interference can make student hard to catch up with lesson and start to loss interest then quite school, and sometime it lead to argument between the two who have to share the book together. Some family cannot effort to send their children to school because they didn’t have money to buy the school material and pay the fee classes. As I mention above, the teacher salary is very little. So in order to earn some money, the teachers must also charge students fees to attend their classes, or offer additional for-fee classes outside the regular class times. This means that the poorest students are often locked out of classes where the real teaching occurs. On the other hand, some parents do not want to send their child to school instead keep them doing household job or to work in the field, and even send them to work in factory to earn money to support family.
All in all, the rural education is very weak because of problem above. So, I think that government should concern more about the education system in rural area. Of course, nowadays there are many organizations take action to provide aid and help to that kind of schools in rural but the reason is there not enough people willing to go there. As a student, I think that we should do a volunteer to teach or help in term of money or material to that kind of schools if we are able to do it in order to improve education in rural.

Maybe I was a little harsh on the Cambodian school system. There are plenty of hard-working people that take school very seriously, but unfortunately these people are the ones who often found themselves without a job. In the United States, spoil system does exist but not to such an extent that is shown by many third world countries. Cambodia’s recent turbulent history has left a legacy of high numbers of people with disabilities of all ages and conditions. People with disabilities are one of the most vulnerable groups in the country and are the least likely to be in school. According to one estimate, the gap in school participation between people with and without disabilities is twice as high as the gaps associated with rural residence, wealth, and gender (World Vision 2007). Even though some disabled people are in regular schools, few modifications have been made for them and their number is minute in proportion to overall enrolment. Underlying all the differences between the less developed rural areas of the world, there are certain almost universal features. At least, they are sufficiently common to make it advisable to check whether or not they are present in the particular rural area for which one is planning. First, there are some obvious features which reveal themselves to anyone taking a walk through a village or the countryside. There is its poverty; this is unlikely to be the abject poverty of the cities, but the general level of wealth is nevertheless likely to be very low. There will be few, if any, substantial houses. Now the question is, why development is not being occurred in rural areas? I’m going to describe that now. Firstly, before the liberation, Dhaka was respectively the capital of East Pakistan, East Bengal, also the capital of Mughal Era. From that time, rulers have established most of the industries, educational institutions and habitats in Dhaka City and still now, quality services like hospitals, schools, universities and many other top most institutions are found in Dhaka. So, from that period to now, people from everywhere in Bangladesh come to Dhaka city for better living. In a village, poor parents do their best to make their child educated, and after being educated, that person migrates to Dhaka city to establish himself. As a result, villages are remaining unprivileged and city areas are developing disproportionally to that day by day. People have set a mind that they can’t do any good thing staying in villages. So the government or the businessmen’s have no interest to make any development works in rural areas because it will not be beneficial for their development business and we know this fact that no one in country do something without profit.…
