In the film Rush directed by Ron Howard I strongly agree that the best films show ordinary people in extraordinary situations. When the word extaordinary is defined as astonishing, prodigious, unforgettable, unbelievable and pre-eminant the film Rush definitely displays these situations. This is in particular with one of the main protaganists Niki Lauda. When ordianary is defined as regular, routine, set and habitual, Niki certainly fits this criteria. In the film we see various situations Niki finds himself in that leave the veiwers emotionally enthralled waiting to see the outcome. Examples of these situations that will be discussed further is when Niki first has his world championship win, when Niki has his major car accident and when Niki goes through his violent treatment in order to return to racing.
Firstly we see how an ordinary man, Niki Lauda, who had to buy himself into the Formula One racing wins the world championship which is an extraordinary feat given the demands of the lifestyle and what he had to overcome. We see the celebrations when Niki is on the podium spraying his bottle of champagne. He is in a close shot and we can see how ecstatic he is for winning. We also see a close up of his wife Marlene and how happy she is for him. The celebrations really are spectacular and seeing where Niki came from, a successful business backround, and where he got to, number one Formula One race car driver, is impressive. By showing how ordinary he was and showing the extraordinary circumstances he achieved gives the veiwer a sort of inspiration and a hope to dream. Niki followed his goals and dreams, he stuck to them and overcame challenges to achieve them. The best films inspire us and this film does.
Secondly we see Niki go through an unbelievable car accident in which he suffers cosequensous
