Music and dance are an important part of Rwandan ceremonies, festivals, and storytelling. The most famous traditional dance is Intore, a dance routine which has o three parts - the ballet, performed by women; the dance of heroes, performed by men, and the drums. Traditionally, music is given orally with different styles. Drummers usually play together in groups of seven or nine.
Clothing
Traditional female dress, called the mush nana, it is a floor-length skirt with a sash over one shoulder, worn over a tank top or bustier. A traditional hairstyle consists of a bun decorated with beads and tied in place by two ribbons. At formal events, the traditional dress for men are Western-style dress shirt tucked into a wrapped floor-length skirt. They usually where this at church or weddings.
Cuisine
It is considered extremely rude to eat in public; meaning in the street, on public transportation, and sometimes even at large parties where strangers are present. Most adults don’t eat sweets, they say that its for kids. Rwandan staples include bananas, plantains, pulses, sweet potatoes, beans, and cassava. For those who live near lakes and have access to fish, tilapia is popular. Brochette is the most popular food when eating out in the evening, usually made from goat, but sometimes tripe, beef, pork or fish. If you invite someone or even multiple people out to dinner or drinks, it is expected that you will pay for them. At large parties or meals that women generally wait for the men to take food before serving themselves.
