Today, I would like to talk about the many adventures in Sabah that we can proud of and as a destination for visiting. Sabah is located at the northern tip of Borneo, the third’s largest island. It has a long coastline that washed by the South China Sea on the West and the Sulu Sea and the Celebes Sea on the East. It has some of the beautiful beaches and islands in the world. Sabah is also known as “The Land Below The wind”. Firstly, Kota Kinabalu, as its capital, is a developing commercial centre and also holiday destination. Kota Kinabalu offers a lot of attractions such as the State Museum, the State Mosque, the Gaya Street Fair, Tanjung Aru beach, the water villages in Kg. You may choose to stay at the Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort or at Magellan Sutera Hotel near Kota Kinabalu or Promenede Hotel in down town itself, or in Sutera Harbour or at Nexus Karambunai Resort in Tuaran, about 15 minutes by road away from the city centre. Other than Kota Kinabalu City, we can travel to the North of Borneo to Kudat that there has a place called ‘The Tip of Borneo’ at Simpang Mangayau, where can be visited and there you can find out the awesome views of the very beautiful and clear water. Semporna at the east also very popular with its floating chalet and restaurant.

The mixed views from the Bukit Barisan mountain chain of the stunning Lake Gunung Tujuh (the highest lake in Southeast Asia), the splendor of the giant volcano Mount Kerinci, and many small volcanic, coastal and glacial lakes in natural forest settings create an environment of spectacular beauty.…

The tiny south pacific nation of East Timor has had a long and tumultuous history. While it has been touted as the first independent country of the 21st century, the government originally declared its independence in November of 1975. East Timor had spent over 300 years under Portuguese…

“Ideological hatred breeds racial hatred and intolerance” (p. 297). It is from this ideology that historians have over the years realized how genocides occur within different countries. From 1975 until roughly 1979, the ideology is defined within the genocide that took place within the Portuguese colony of East Timor (p. 279). It was until this time that the country of East Timor had been loosely administered by the Portuguese. Because of this notion that, “…for more than four centuries Portugal had been the dominant, almost exclusive, external influence in East Timor” (p.281). It is also important time because the country of East Timor sought out for their independence from the Portuguese. However, in September of 1974 the neighboring country…

This is a kind of a love story. There is a Malay saying tak kenal maka tak cinta which has been used for the tourist promotion song, "to know Malaysia is to love Malaysia" and the Sarawak version should be "to know Sarawak is to love Sarawak". Undoubtedly to know the history of Sarawak is to love Sarawak. For the historians it is not that simple as falling in love. In the case for Sarawak we do not know where and when to begin. Sarawak has a fairly rich historiography, thanks to the Brooke. But unfortunately the present historiography of Sarawak begins with the Brunei Rule as the background for the Brooke period. My lecturer in the university, James Ongkili taught me this approach and in one of his articles he says:…

From Lapu-Lapu to Jose Rizal, Philippine history is full with people who fought against overwhelming odds and won. Of course, we were colonized by the Spaniards and Americans, occupied by the Japanese and subjugated by a home-grown dictator. But the point is the Filipino spirit is indomitable and despite of the awesome might of our oppressors, we still prevailed in the end. This kind of spirit is again in quest with the issues of claiming for expanded territories. I want to plug in the current issues of claiming Sabah and Spartly Islands as part of the Philippine territory despite of the number of contenders suing for it.…

There are so many nice places scattered across the country. Every place has its own distinct features. I have visited so many places of scenic beauty and tourist interest. But the visit which has a lasting impression on my mind is the visit of Sarawak’s Mount Mulu National Park. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. It is said to be the heaven on earth. It has the accolade of being “the most spectacular caves on earth”. The complex network of vast caves were formed over millennia the flow of water draining from the slopes of Mount Mulu towards the sea has cut deep gorges through the Park’s limestone mountains and, within the rock itself. I was wonderstruck to see the ravishing beauty of the Mulu Caves. Mount Mulu National Park is one of the most bewitching places on earth. It has been a great attraction for the tourists all across the country and abroad as well.…
