Saenger Theatre Concert Report

I walked into Saenger theatre, unsure of what to expect from the program as it was my first concert. I must say, I was well pleased by how the ladies at the front desk attended to us and everyone else when we went to purchase our tickets (I was there with two friends). Anyway, the attendants showed us to our seats. We couldn’t see everything from where we were seated, but we had a great view nevertheless. The building was well lighted and everything else was neatly organized, it was pretty. The conductor Mr. Scott Speck took the stage and gave a brief and intriguing introduction of what we were about to see. He conducted and directed the performance with a baton. The first performance lasted for about 20minutes and it was a good piece. What certainly had me so interested and fixated at the players, was the unison among them, as each of them played their different musical instrument. It was the prettiest thing I’ve seen in quite a long time. The view of them moving together and producing music pleasant to the ears, was amazing.
After the first performance, Mr. Scott went off the stage and returned shortly. This time, pianos and bassoons were included in the performance, and that of course
Once everyone was settled, Mr. Scott took the stage once again and narrated the story(content) of their next performance. This time around, his story was quite boring that I almost fell asleep, but as soon as they began to play, it was like heaven on earth. I came back to life and it made more sense listening to them play than just hearing the story. It was as if each time they played a different piece, it outshines the previous one, and they added more instruments every time. I was unable to positively identify the added instruments, but at this point, I didn’t care much about the instruments. I was more interested in what I was hearing and not what was producing the
