Step by wicked step, my boots sank further and further into the thick, red-tinged land as if the devil himself were dragging my body straight into the depths of hell. The rhythmic squelching stabbed through my rubber soles, radiating pain throughout my soul as it seared everything in its path. Squelch, squelch, squish. My tempo was interrupted by those cursed boots refusing to budge from the stubborn terrain. As if taunting me, the earth unhooked my feet from the damned soil…

I asked him why he shot the flare, and he replied, “ No one survives out there I’ve been here for roughly sixteen years, and out of all this time your were the first survivor I’ve seen. Every time more soldiers are dropped in I try to signal them to my direction, but it’s too late. No one ever makes it out of here.” That last thing he said made my skin crawl as it replayed and echoed through my head; like a pounding drum beating over and over again. He told me we should get some rest because of our long day of searching for more survivors, and scavenging any extra supplies we can find. He tossed me a bedroll “Get some rest, we have a long day ahead of us”, he said. “I’m no better than the worms that lay next to me in the dirt; just hiding away…

Right! I'll talk to you about something a bit nicer. Some days ago I saw a programme about an orangutan sanctuary in Borneo if I am not mistaken. Although it's really admirable the work that the carers carry out with all those orphaned orangutans, it's very sad that there are so many animals that have to live in them because awful people killed their mothers. Among all of the orangutans that live there, there is a baby that believe that her carer is her true mother.…
