Gunderson, 5th grade teacher Mr. Cunningham and her own teacher Mrs. Claire LeSane. When Barry saw Mrs. LeSane she describes running towards her and hugging her crying and thinking about it years later Barry came to the realization that she was crying out of relief for she was truly at home at the school. Barry describes her before class routine and admits to relying on the school for stability and comfort. Barry would then go on to describe Mrs.LeSane more after the latter asked what was wrong and Barry had not told her about her suffering at home with her parents. Barry describes Mrs.LeSane as a healing person, someone who could relied on, someone to be able to come to for advice. She described how Mrs.LeSane for seemingly no reason allowed her children to paint pictures which she in turn would hang up. Barry would go on to say that drawing had essentially become her passion. Barry then describes her feelings on public schools, stating that public schools save lives with herself being an inferred example. However she goes over how her country states cutting school budgets, poor salaries is necessary. Barry is essentially told that neglected children must fend for themselves despite the situation being sad or fail and that the school will not guide them. Barry is told public schools and the children who attend them
