One weakness that is all too familiar with companies is running out of a popular product, and your supplier is no longer dependable. This is a big weakness for the customer, employees, and everyone involved within the establishment. Now, if the supplier is dependent and makes deliveries like they are supposed to, but there is not enough space to house it, then that is another weakness. This plays a huge role in Sandwich Blitz, and for any company, because you have to be able to depend on your supplier, and at the same token, make sure you have adequate room for the supplies. You can have good quality products all day long, but if you a supplier who isn’t on his A game, or not enough space to house the product, then the quality isn’t really going to matter. Creating a position between the CEO and location managers would be somewhat a good idea. I see that as a bad idea for them right now because how they are running their business it’s a day to day decision. If they create that position that’s another salary they have to afford and it doesn’t seem like they are ready for it yet. A good thing about it is that they can have a certain person focus on the pros and cons of the business and see the inside and outside of the business. It seems to be that they want to hire an area director to go around to locations and see how the sales are and how the store is being run. Also that person can help Dalman and Lei advertise their business and try to get it on local radio stations, flyers, newspaper, and coupons for repeating customers, and maybe even designing a mascot to go on the sidewalk and pass out the coupons and bring people in.…

This original strategy has contributed to somewhat lower operating expenses for the business and both Dalman and Lei view this as a competitive advantage. Based on new local health codes, new laws have been issued requiring trash dumpsters be a minimum distance of 30 feet (9.144 meters) from the rear entrance of the building. New land-use laws require that all out buildings be at least 6 feet (1.8288 meters) from the property lines. The enclosure that houses the trash dumpster is 5 feet (1.524 meters) from the property lines, which is in violation of those laws. The government inspector has told the unit manager that he would be willing to approve this if Sandwich Blitz provides the food for his department's holiday party. The location manager has conveyed this information to Dalman. Each Sandwich Blitz location is situated on very small parcels of land. 1) Creating a new position between the CEO and the location manager would help the business to grow many ways. First it would allow Dalman and Lei to focus on the greater goal of the company, and leave the researching of franchising or opening up more company owned shops to the potential position. This position could take away a lot of the stress that the two feel as business owners, he or she could handle a lot of the necessary tasks, and then give Dalman and Lei a monthly briefing, allowing them to still be a part of the decision making process, but without all of the added stress.…

For my Unit 10 : Discussion posting, I have chosen to use the country "Mexico". A business group from this country has offered to purchase a franchise of Sandwich Blitz. Although both Dalman and Lei are overly excited about this idea, they must both learn about "Mexico's" cultural norms, business and meeting practices, and its values. As I understand that a meeting has been arranged for Dalman, Lei, and three representatives from the business group, to discuss the idea of "Mexico" purchasing a franchise of Sandwich Blitz. With this being a very important meeting, and it involving networking with individuals who will influence the outcome of this transit to expand the business of Sandwich Blitz, Dalman and Lei should both begin reading, reviewing, and learning…

The first two practices Drucker (2004) introduces provide an effective executive with the knowledge they needed asking, “What needs to be done?” and “what is right for the enterprise?”When the question, “what needs to be done?” is asked by an effective executive, they focus hard on one, at most two, tasks at a time. Therefore, other tasks are postponed no matter how important or appealing they are in order to increase efficiency. The second practice, “what is right for the enterprise?” provides an opportunity for executives to make the right decision. In the article, the author also explains that conducting this practice does not ensure the right decision will be made as “even the most brilliant executive is human and thus prone to mistakes and prejudices” (Drucker 2004).…

Self-managed teams offer a few advantages that can be used at Sandwich Blitz like having a stronger commitment, employee satisfaction, and faster product and service development. There are also some drawbacks to having self-managed teams. Self managed teams can be difficult to implement at first and failure is a risk when not implemented at the right time or without the right amount of leadership. Self-managed teams could work to a certain extent at Sandwich Blitz such as having employees cross trained to do different jobs within the company. This would help to increase the flexibility of the team in dealing with personnel shortages and some of the things that Dalman has to do on a daily basis. This would increase Dalman and Lei’s knowledge of the work processes and in turn would help the employees solve problems more efficiently. However, Dalman would need to pick team members that he trusts and feels comfortable with handling the day to day responsibilities in the work place. Dalman will have to take the difficulty of making self-managed teams into consideration as well as being willing to invest some of his time into developing the team and removing himself when he feels comfortable with the team leaders. I believe Dalman and Lei could really benefit from forming self-managed teams because then they will not have to do all the work themselves so they can have a little more free time. There is a lot to be learned about forming self-managed teams in the work…

The biggest problem that Dalman and Lei face is the sense of urgency regarding their technological advancement. Dalman and Lei are under a lot of pressure to adopt this new technology and implement it in a very limited amount of time. The increase in customers has left Sandwich Blitz almost crippled. Their employees are unable to properly fulfill all of the orders coming in which in turn is reflecting negatively upon their business. All of the errors that are being made will eventually run their business into the ground. Customers have come to expect a quality product and a great service experience. Without these two things, customers will no longer choose to visit Sandwich Blitz.…
