Savagery is present in Lord of the Flies when Jack becomes a chief and commands his tribe to kill Ralph. “He was a chief now in truth; and he made stabbing motions with his spear”. At the beginning of the novel, Jack follows the rules that Ralph has set. But as the story progresses he slowly loses his will to obey the rules. Savagery in The Hunger Games is present when Katniss and the rest of the tributes have to resort to savagery to survive. Katniss said that she didn’t want to kill anyone if she could avoid it, but when she was face to face with Marvel she shot him without hesitation. The careers from Districts 1, 2 and 4 gang up on the other tributes and kill them. They act as if they enjoy killing other people.
