Savannah Cats Compare And Contrast
The Wild Life of Bengal and Savannah Cats

The Bengal cat’s ancestor is the Asian Leopard Cat. The African Serval is the ancestor of the Savannah Cat. Savannahs are banned in New York City, Massachusetts, Hawaii, and Georgia due to the concern of the cats escaping and their wild side emerging causing changes in the ecosystem. I personally know both a Bengal and Savannah; my dad owns a snow Bengal named Sassa and my cousin owns a Savannah named Zoe. They are both amazing and entertaining cats. The Bengal and Savannah Cat have numerous wild similarities and differences. These cats, are both beautiful and wild looking, which is what makes them so sought after. Bengals are full of energy and love to play. They also enjoy snuggling up with their owners and are very affectionate. They experience periods of extreme energy and activity followed by sudden long periods of being calm, loving and sweet. These cats, however, are for experienced cat owners due to their crazy side. Whereas the Savannah is canine-like. They are curious, outgoing, active, loyal, and play well with other pets. These cats can jump seven feet in the air, the highest of any domestic cat. They do well with families and young children as long as they respect their nondomestic genes. Both of these breeds make some interesting noises. The Bengal cat has a bark like meow. Savannahs will sometimes let out a snake hiss. Which comes from their Serval lineage, this noise is made to imitates a snake in times of danger. These breeds are both super healthy. Bengals are immune to feline leukemia and are being studied at the National Institute of Cancer. Savannahs and Bengals are both rather pricey breeds and can cost anywhere from a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars. Also, they are both very intelligent. Both enjoy water and on occasion will like to take showers. Another trait from their ancestors is that they both appreciate being able to look down upon their environment or home. This causes them to be fond of perches and scratching

Short-legged cats have been documented a number of times around the world since the 1940s. A British veterinary report in 1944 noted four generations of healthy short-legged cats which were similar to normal cats except for the length of the legs. This line disappeared during the Second World War but other short-legged cats were spotted in Russia during 1956 and the United States in the 1970s.[1] In Russia the cat earned the nickname "Stalingrad Kangaroo cat".[citation needed]…

A Savannah Cat is actually a hybrid between a Siamese cat and a Serval The Savannah cats name is given to the off spring of a domestic cat and several medium sized, large-eared Wild African cats. The unusual offspring became popular among breeders at the end of the 20th century, and in 2001 the I.C.A (International Cat Association) accepted it as a new registered breed. Savannahs are much more social than other breeds of cats they are often compared to dogs because of their loyalty and the fact that you can train them to walk on leashes and to do tricks. The Bengal breeder Judee Frank crossbred a male Serval belonging to Suzi Woods and a Siamese cat to produce the first Savannah cat named Savannah on April 7, 1986. Franks’ Savannah attracted the attention of Patrick Kelly who pushes one of Savannahs kittens in 1989 Kelly was the first enthusiast who worked toward establishing a new domestic breed .He approached many Serval breeders to help to develop this new breed and finally garnered the help of breeder Joyce Sroufe to work with him in taking the steps he needed to get the breed recognized. In 1996 Patrick Kelley and Joyce Sroufe wrote the original version of the Savannah breed standard and presented it to the I.C.A in 01 the board accepted the breed as a new type of Cat. 010 brought a significant event for the breed when the first female F1 Savannah was born and bred in the UK by Rosanne Boyle of Hotspotexotics name “Amazing Grace she was registered with the I.C.A from 06 the breed has seen significant growth throughout the UK as a result the breed of being so well received. For example, the cats produced directly from a Serval/domestic Cat cross are the, and they are 50% serval. F1 generation Savannahs are very difficult to produce, due to the significant difference in gestation periods between the Serval and a domestic cat and sex…
