Save Baby Girl
"Daughter is the knot that ties the family together". "A baby girl..one of the most beautiful miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we can ever know,& one of the reasons why there is a extra sunshine, laughter and happiness in our life today."
In many traditional cultures, fathers and mothers would pray for a boy who would be able to help in the field. In these cultures, the value of daughter was not understood. A father has a special relationship with his daughter as she will judge all men by his standard. A mother's task is to show her daughter the complex task of growing into a woman. We no longer live in an agricultural society and woman are free to accomplish intellectually and occupationally what they couldn't in the past. A daughter may one day play the role of mother and wife. Raising a daughter is an infinite gift.Mother and daughter relationships are complex because the daughter looks to her mother as a role model of what a woman is. As she grows up and sees other woman who live their lives differently, she chooses between imitating her mother or other significant influences in her life. As an adolescent she may come to look down on her mother and think that other woman are much better. Of course she is not a fully grown woman so she does not understand the challenges and choices that her mother faces. It is only when she herself becomes a woman that she can fully appreciate her mother

In her book Longing for Daddy: Healing from the Pain of an Absent or Emotionally Distant Father, Monique Robinson, a pastor of women’s discipleship, explains that daughters long for something they cannot articulate— the need for a father, for his love “defines [her] femininity, shapes her character, affirms her identity, and validates her womanhood” (Robinson 120). Naturally, it is a father’s paternal obligation to nurture and care for his daughter’s emotional needs. Thus, when he neglects his paternal duty, his daughter’s emotional capacity becomes weighted down by negative thoughts that tell her she is unlovable. Therefore, she sets out in pursuit of love (Robinson 120). Consequently, without the support the daughter needs to positively influence…

“Adam and Eve” by Ani Difranco and “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid are two literary works that speak to the issue of how important it is to have a mother in a daughter’s life. It is the life experience(s) that can only be communicated to a daughter by her mother. The emotions, feeling and understanding of the female experience of what a woman goes through in life. When a young lady does not receive this information for the female prospective is the difference between socialites view and becoming of a “bad” or “good” girl. They see their mother as something that is subservient to their father, and because of the father being the enforcer it messes with the mother from reaching the psychological term of self-actualization. The traditional father is also typically the one who protects the family and keeps a tight perimeter around the household. The mother’s role is ensure that the child grows up emotionally strong and feels secure in that regard. Studies also show that mothers tend to do more of the cooking and cleaning around the house and they also take care of the child (Guttman).…

But under primitive conditions, before the institutions of civilized society were created, the actual power of the mother over the infant must have been awesome. Only the mother over the infant from cold; only her breast milk could provide the nourishment needed for survival. Her indifference or neglect meant certain death. The life giving mother had power over life and death. No wonder that men and women, observing this dramatic and mysterious power of the female, turned to the veneration of Mother-Goddess. A father-daughter relationship could be one of the sweetest relationships to come across or the complete opposite. Emma, Fusi’s 48-year old daughter is one of the people that Fusi was determined to prove wrong. Emma constantly taunts and reminds her father that he is too old to be fishing and because he is illegally fishing, he will not be forgiven at the gates of heaven. Fusi knows her too well to take her words to heart. Emma has strongly motivated Fusi to prove her false. Every morning he wakes up at 3:00 am, and goes fishing against her will, which proves that a man “three score and ten” is capable enough to fish. Fusi argued to her that god has said nowhere in the bible that a man his age cannot fish. For every accusation Emma threw against her father, Fusi had a equal or stronger response, proving that her allegations had no negative affect on him. I can personally relate to Fusi’s situation because I live with a 70-year old grandmother who faces similar situations in her everyday life. She has been working almost her entire life, now that she is 70-years old my parents expect her to stop doing major chores around the house. It bothers her knowing that my parents do not think she has the capacity to carry on her daily routine. Therefore she goes against their will and continues to do all the chores, proving that she still…

    Jamaica Kincaid- Girl

Jamaica Kincaid has taken common advice that daughters are constantly hearing from their mothers and tied them into a series of commands that a mother uses to prevent her daughter from turning into "the slut that she is so bent on becoming" (380). But they are more than commands; the phrases are a mother's way of ensuring that her daughter has the tools that she needs to survive as an adult. The fact that the mother takes the time to train the daughter in the proper ways for a lady to act in their time is indicative of their family love. The fact that there are so many rules and moral principles that are being passed to the daughter indicates that mother and daughter spend a lot of time together.…

In a household where the mother and father are the biological parents of their children, that family tends to do well over all. When there is both the mom and dad the child has more of a chance to learn and grow. As a child explores their surroundings they need the support from both parents. When exploring and experimenting, children need a male influence to reinsure themselves. The male presence also plays a big role when developing motor skills. Unlike most mothers, fathers are usually more “rough” with their child and are physical with them. Such as tossing the child in the air or pushing them done a slide. On the other hand, mothers are the reinsurance in love and care that children need. Although playing with dad might be fun, every now and again the child will end up getting hurt. And the mother is called on to take care of the child. Quite often when children are young, they will first look for a reaction from the people around them to figure out how they should react. And when a child sees his mothers reaction he is more likely to copy her. A mother is also there to nurture the child in self-care such as bathing and keeping objects organized. Mothers and fathers play huge roles in a child’s life. The mothers show the child how to have patients, love, and how to…

McCarthy places an emphasis on the mother's body as a vessel of creation, the only form of creation in a world filled with death and destruction: "Always so deliberate, hardly surprised by the most outlandish events. A creation perfectly evolved to meet its own end. [...] A few nights later she gave birth in their bed by the light of a drycell lamp." While she labours to create a child, however, "Her cries meant nothing to [the father]" (54): as a man, he does not identify with this labour-as-creation . In fact, there doesn't even seem to be a memory of creation once the mother is gone. When the father and son find the charred remains of a roasted baby, the boy asks, "Where did they find it?" because, in a male-centric world, they are capable only of scavenging canned goods and old shoes (200). The idea of someone creating the baby is an alien one to a boy who has grown up only in the ravaged landscape that is now the world.…
